Description
Role Summary
The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding the customer base within the assigned territory. The role focuses on developing strong relationships with bakeries, distributors, and key customers, increasing market penetration, and promoting the company's flour products based on quality, consistency, and value. The incumbent will act as a key link between customers and the business to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Growth & Business Development
Achieve assigned sales volume, revenue, and profitability targets. Develop business across industrial bakeries, retail bakeries, distributors, and wholesalers. Identify and acquire new customers while strengthening existing relationships. Increase market share and enhance brand presence within the territory. Coordinate with the quality and production teams to address customer requirements and feedback.
2. Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with bakery owners, purchasing teams, and production managers. Conduct regular customer visits to understand product performance and business needs. Gather customer feedback and communicate market requirements to internal teams. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
3. Product Promotion & Technical Support
Promote products based on quality, consistency, and performance benefits. Support product trials, demonstrations, and customer evaluations in collaboration with technical teams. Provide customers with guidance on product applications and best practices.
4. Distribution & Market Coverage
Manage distributor performance to ensure effective market coverage. Monitor stock availability, pricing compliance, and sales execution. Ensure product availability across key markets and minimize stock shortages. Support the development and expansion of the distribution network.
5. Market Intelligence
Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and promotional initiatives. Track market trends, customer preferences, and industry developments. Provide regular market insights and recommendations to management.
6. Credit Control & Collections
Ensure compliance with company credit and payment policies. Monitor customer outstanding balances and follow up on collections. Support healthy cash flow through effective receivables management.
7. Planning & Reporting
Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and territory plans. Track sales performance against targets and key performance indicators. Maintain accurate records of customer activities and business opportunities.
